Optimal planning of charging station for EVs with PV-BES unit in distribution system using WOA

This paper presents a novel approach based on a recent meta-heuristic algorithm, known as multi objective whale optimization algorithm (MOWOA) to find out the optimal placement for electric vehicles (EVs) charging stations (CSs) combined with photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage (BES) which is referred as PV-BES unit in a 69-bus radial distribution system (RDS). In this paper hourly varying loads are considered and number of charging stations in RDS is evaluated. An efficient control technique is provided to coordinate energy management between PV-BES unit & EVs. The suggested optimization technique is used to reduce three costs i.e. (a) annual investment cost, operational & maintenance cost associated with PV-BES-CS, (b)travelling cost of EVs, (c) power loss cost using time of use (TOU) pricing in RDS. Using this technique the EVs gets the nearest charging point for recharging. It is contemplated that the proposed technique is significantly acceptable for planning of CS combined with PV-BES unit in 69-bus RDS.
