A universal monolithic E-band transceiver for automotive radar applications and V2V communication

This paper presents a universal E-band transceiver (TRX) suitable for automotive radar applications simultaneously supporting vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication. It contains an I/Q-receiver (RX) and BPSK modulators, which makes it applicable for radar systems using frequency-modulated continuous-wave or pseudo random-noise modulation techniques. The TRX achieves more than 9dBm output power in 67-90 GHz band and more than 24 dB RX gain in 71-87 GHz band with input referred 1-dB compression point of -10dBm at 79 GHz. The chip occupies 3.7 mm² and consumes 130 mA from 3.3 V supply.
