Performance of branch predictors of a CPU

Performance of a typical CPU also depends on the performance of a branch predictor used in the design of a CPU. Branch Prediction is a technique to reduce control hazards that may occur during execution of a program by CPU. Hazards are the delays that may occur inside the pipeline stage of a CPU which degrades the performance of a CPU. This paper compares the performance of different types of branch predictors using SimpleScalar tool used using Cygwin.
