A review on micropumps for drug delivery system

MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) based drug delivery systems finds plethora of applications in current biomedical engineering. Advancements in MEMS field supported to achieve up to LOC (Lab-On-Chip) level and also made the processes low cost and low power consuming. This article reviews a number of micropumps used in various drug delivery microsystems. Both mechanical and non-mechanical micropumps are analyzed and different versions of each types of micropumps are mentioned with respect to their working principle.
