A low noise readout circuit for a novel rotational gyroscope based on phase sensitive detection

This paper introduces a low noise readout circuit for a novel rotational gyroscope. By phase sensitive detection technique, the proposed circuit is virtually immune of low frequency noise due to 1/f noise and specific interferences due to driving circuits. An amplititude stabilization technique is introduced to the excitation signal source. With this technique the noise contribution from the signal source is greatly reduced. The influence from matching of feedback capacitance is calculated and recommended matching level is given. The prototype circuit is fabricated and tested together with the rotational gyroscope. Rate table test results show that the minimum detectable input angular rate change is 0.05° /s, with a sensitivity up to 95mV/° /s and linearity better than 0.1%.
