Design of helix slow-wave structure for Ka/Q dual-band TWT

The design of fan-shaped metal loaded helix slow wave structure for a dual-band (Ka/Q) traveling wave tube is presented in this paper. The beam-wave interaction simulation predicts a minimum output power of 199/191 W, minimum electronic efficiency 15.1%/12.5%, and maximum gain of 50.1/49.9 dB, respectively, for Ka-band(29-31GHz) and Q-band(43.5-45.5GHz).
