Multi-criteria mobile gateway selection approach in vehicular internet

Vehicular Internet access via roadside unit (RSU) has been demonstrated to be a feasible solution to provide opportunistic data service to moving vehicles. However, such a solution does not provide performance guarantees due to unpredictable intermittent connectivity due to high mobility. Thus, Mobile Gateways are deployed to improve vehicular internet access services. Selection of an appropriate gateway is essential to improve performance of vehicular internet access which has been discussed in this paper. In this paper, a multi-criteria mobile gateway selection approach for balancing load in vehicular internet (MCMGSA) has been proposed. The goal of the proposed approach is to i) balance load among gateways, ii) improve transmission latency, and iii) provide connection stability. The three design goals effectively represent three objectives that we deal with finding a tradeoff in simulation results.
