A perlustration on out of band emission mitigation techniques in OFDM

Higher data rate transmission is the main requirement for wireless communication. There are several multiplexing techniques for wireless communication which can be accomplished by Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM), Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), Code Division Multiplexing (CDM) and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). OFDM is the most prominent, promising and revolutionary multiplexing technique for wireless communication. OFDM suffers with two major drawbacks such as high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) and large out of band emission (OOBE). In this paper, we have concentrated on out of band emission. Out of band emission causes interference in OFDM due to the sidelobes present in the spectrum of an OFDM symbol which causes interference to the adjacent subcarriers. This leads reduction in system throughput and decreases bit error rate (BER) performance. In this paper, out of band emission reduction techniques based on cognitive radio (CR) is presented.
