Web archiving for Sri Lanka

Most websites change from time to time and the previous versions of the sites become unavailable. This is a complication for a user who wants to search for important information which may no longer b e available on the website. This is especially an issue in the case of government websites that contain critical information. The main aim of this research is to archive Sri Lankan websites - in particular government websites - and provide a technique to access these web pages later. Initially, we investigated complications which arise when archiving Sri Lankan sites. Secondly, we built and deployed a system to regularly archive Sri Lankan websites with duplication reduction. We also developed a Joomla component as a server-side archiving mechanism.
