Protecting a low voltage DC microgrid during short-circuit using solid-state switching devices

In a DC microgrid, protection of the DC distribution line during a short-circuit, is an important issue that could undermine the reliability and dependability of the system. In this paper, a model of low-voltage DC microgrid protection during short circuit current is simulated; including calculation of short circuit current and details about its components. These components are a bipolar circuit model with Pi type similar circuit, solid state bi-directional switching devices accompanied by a snubber circuit and a freewheeling segment. The current of the circuit is then calculated during a short circuit fault in line to ground and line to line and the circuit reaction is studied before and after a voltage interruption by the solid-state switching devices with a mathematical expression. Finally, the accuracy of the calculation would be checked by simulating it using Matlab/ Simulink software.
