Implementation of an Arrhythmia detection scheme with cellular based alert framework

Cardiovascular disease is one of the most common life threatening disease in recent time. Electrocardiogram plays a vital role in the diagnosis of various cardiovascular diseases. This work deals with the implementation of Arrhythmia detection system with a cellular IoT based alert system. The signal acquisition circuit includes ECG signal detection, amplification and analog filtering of the signal. High-performance digital filter, using the principle of Discrete Wavelet Transform, was incorporated to denoise the acquired ECG signal. Arrhythmia was diagnosed by detecting the QRS complex in the background signal and extracting the R-R intervals. If an arrhythmia is detected, physicians can be alerted by a cellular alert message. This system can be very effective in the cases of emergency when a doctor is not physically present with the patient. It can help us improve the current health care services offered in remote areas of the country.
