Load monitoring of residential elecrical loads based on switching transient analysis

Electricity energy monitoring techniques are very popular to consumer site due to recent trends of living standard of people and also reducing the non-renewable sources. Also, the development of smart buildings technology, consumers are more interested in advanced monitoring of electrical appliances which is very much essential for energy conservation. Smart Grid technology promotes advanced load monitoring applications to maintenance demand side management. Recently, significant devotion has been paid to Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring to estimate the individual action and power consumption of the residential appliances, from single point of electrical measurements. In this situation, appliances load monitoring is very effective for the end users to determine energy consumption and usage. Today most of the generated electricity is consumed in commercial and residential sector. Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) is comparatively new technique to identify the power consumption of individual appliances from the aggregated household data from a single point of measurement. In the distribution system, smart grid technology is implemented in several countries. In this paper, a new simple idea of model based technique is demonstrated that can be easily implemented in domestic households with prior knowledge of current patterns. A simple model based load identification technique is demonstrated that can be implemented easily and efficiently in domestic households with prior knowledge current patterns and transients. Suitable simulations demonstrate the viability of the proposed methodology.
