Identification of active and passive sentence for plagiarism detection

In this paper, method that can detect sentence similarity by considering active sentences and passive sentences is proposed. Indonesian language has several types of sentences, which have different sentence patterns. Although the sentences are different, there are still chances of similarity between one sentence with another sentence in the document. Sentence similarity in the document encourages the act of plagiarism. This problem needs to be identified in order to avoid plagiarism in the document. Experiments were conducted on 60 single sentences, which consists of 30 active sentences and 30 passive sentences, and were verified by Indonesian language experts. The results have shown a promising identification capability of active and passive sentences, which can be used for plagiarism detection.
