A DNA-based smart meter authentication scheme

In this paper, we propose a strong, efficient, and reliable DNA-based authentication solution of smart meters to assure the confidentiality and integrity of the messages exchanged across the smart grid as well as ensuring high consumers' privacy. Our approach does not require modifications to the existing smart meter communication. We have developed a proof-of-concept implementation of the proposed approach which is also briefly discussed in the paper.
