Modeling of IoT-based border protection system

Border Protection has become an important issue of every country due to increased terrorism in the world. The traditional border protection systems consist of border troops which cannot provide protection all the time. Therefore, Internet of Things (IoT) based model for border protection is presented in this work to provide continuous monitoring at the border. In this model, it is assumed that sensors have RFID tags and are deployed on the border in the form of subnets to detect intrusions. A subnet consists of collection of nodes with a gateway node having RFID tag. A gateway node is used to connect subnets and to receive intrusion information reported by the sensors. A gateway node reports to a border troop to catch the intruder. Firstly, graph based model is developed to represent the network topology. Then Unified Modeling Language (UML) models using use cases and sequence diagrams are developed for semi-formal representation. The algorithm is developed based on the graph based and UML models. To prove correctness of the algorithm, formal specification is described and analyzed using formal methods. Vienna Development Method-Specification Language (VDM-SL) is used for this purpose. The developed formal specification is analyzed through various facilities available in the VDM-SL toolbox.
