A rectangular slotted dielectric substrate loaded Antipodal Vivaldi SIW antenna for X-band applications

This paper specifies a novel concept of a wide bandwidth Antipodal Vivaldi SIW based antenna operating in the X frequency band. The compact antenna prototype is designed on FR-4 substrate having a concise dimension of only 31.5 mm × 12.6mm × 1.6 mm that operated in the range from 9GHz to 12GHz using the technique of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW). The substrate integrated waveguides are a better option for the transmission of electromagnetic energy in comparison with transmission lines. The design is simulated in HFSS Software. The simulated antenna gives a very good performance and better impedance matching in X-band, having a wide bandwidth of 3 GHz. The Proposed antenna having high simulated gain as 25dBi. The obtained simulated antenna parameters result such as return loss(S11), Radiation pattern, gain, shown below, states that the proposed design is suitable for working in X-band applications.
