Design and performance analysis of 0.6Tb/s 863nm VCSEL based optical link

) data transmission system model over 50km distance using single mode fiber (SMF) is demonstrated at 0.6Tb/s in this paper. This Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) based system is designed to operate at room temperature (25°C). The performance of this model is analyzed at 683nm, 863nm, 1550nm wavelengths. By varying the bit rate the overall performances including Q-factor, bit error rate (BER), output power are analyzed. The analysis also includes fiber amplifiers namely Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA) and Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) respectively in the system. With the proposed system error free data transmission is achieved over 50km distance with maximum Q-factor of 34.55, bit rate of 0.6Tb/s at 863nm and also the maximum output power of 125.2mW at room temperature at 683nm.
