Development of a power system protection laboratory/test-bed at Clarkson university

In this paper, a power system protection laboratory is discussed which will help the students and researchers to study power system protection and relay communication. This setup allows the researchers to simulate different types of bolted and impedance faults at different locations of a power system. Singlephase to ground, phase-phase to ground, phase-phase, and three-phase faults can be studied. In addition, users are able to study the communication and coordination issues among the relays.
