A wind power integrated system based on a controllably inductive filtering and compensation method

This paper proposes a wind power integrated system for power quality improvement based on a controllably inductive filtering and compensation (CIFC) method. The CIFC method aims to provide a comprehensive function, which includes the harmonic suppression and reactive power compensation for a wind farm. At first, the topology of such a new wind power integration system is presented. Then, a mathematical model reflecting the reactive power compensation is established. Moreover, according to the requirement of the harmonic suppression and reactive power compensation of the wind farm, the control strategy of a cascaded static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) is described. Simulation and experimental results show that the new wind power integrated system not only compensate the reactive power, but also can greatly suppress the harmonic currents. Hence, it presents good filtering and reactive power compensation performance, and also increases the grid-connection efficiency of the wind power system.
