Road traffic signal control using cyber physical social system

Cyber Physical Social System allows controlling of physical object using computation and social data such as controlling road traffic signal. Road traffic signal plays important roles in regulating road traffic. This signal can be improved by setting the signal duration that provide time for vehicle to pass the road while considering vehicles entering or exiting the point of interest (POI) on the road. The number of vehicle entering/exiting the POI can be indicated by event or status of the road perceived by road user. This status can be obtained by analyzing the social media data which can be combined with physical sensors data to provide information about the road. In this paper, we propose a road traffic signal control method which create traffic signal configuration using social media data and the number of vehicles. The method consists two main components, namely traffic signal configuration center and traffic signal controller. A simulation has been built to evaluate the method feasibility and possible advancement to improve real life implementation.
