Outdoor propagation modeling for wireless sensor networks 2.4 GHz

This experimental measurement outdoor propagation uses wireless sensor network (WSN). WSN consists of a coordinator node and three sensor nodes that they are connected by star topology. We use Xbee transceiver and Arduino microcontroller. The farthest distance Tx-Rx is reached at 660m. We use three methods that are including RSSI log model, log-distance pathloss model, log normal shadowing to investigate experimental measurement data. The experimental measurement has generated a pathloss exponent n = 1.9529 in LOS and n = 3.5771 in NLOS. The result shows that the experimental measurement data has similar slope level to ideal theoretically pathloss exponent n = 2. WSN wave propagation is seriously attenuated by surrounding buildings. Based on experimental measurement data that NLOS propagation have a bigger attenuation than LOS propagation.
