Treating oil-paper insulation in high-voltage devices using molecular adsorption method

Problems with high voltage insulation in power transformers, utilizing an oil and cellulose insulation system, are successfully treated using new molecular adsorption materials. This new approach to this old and well known problem, proved to be a success, and degradation of these insulation systems in all cases has been significantly slowed or even stopped. Considering the cost of large power transformers and their insulation system, this new approach to insulation system maintenance has been a major cost saving as a transformer maintenance and life extension technique. In addition, compared to conventional equipment for centrifuging, heating and degassification treatment of oil, used over the years, this new system has been proven to have many technical and practical advantages. The equipment is much smaller, uses 20-30 times less energy, does not pollute and the adsorbent can be fully regenerated. The equipment also costs far less than conventional equipment.
