Bidirectional dual inverter algorithm for grid tied microgrid systems

A method of modifying the grid tied inverter for microgrids is presented. The process includes a model of a grid system to represent the mixing between the grid power, solar power and battery power. The method is preferred to any single phase inverter with grid operating capacity. A generic grid tied inverter model is designed and taken as a sample case to study the changes and its effect on performance. An algorithm is designed for bidirectional dual inverter and tested in different modes according to the proposed method. The validity is checked through comparisons and different model predictions with simulations. An entire sample design is given to demonstrate the application of the process for the micro grid systems.
