A genetic algorithm to obtain optimal parameters for a HALCON vision system

This paper discusses the optimisation of a HALCON vision system by using an artificial intelligence algorithm: a genetic algorithm. In industry, vision system applications vary extensively, therefore there is no specific set of optimal vision system parameters. Parameters are usually obtained via a trial and error method during installation. Motivation behind this paper stems to finding optimal parameters for a HALCON vision system through an automated approach. Investigation is performed on the plausibility of implementing a genetic algorithm for obtaining optimal HALCON vision system parameters as well as determining the best genetic algorithm parameters for optimisation.
