Effect of corrosion on the EMC characteristics of cable connector assembly

Transfer impedance is an important parameter to represent the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of cable connector assembly. In this paper, the cable connector assemblies with different degradation degrees are obtained based on the accelerated corrosion test. The transfer impedances of these assemblies are measured using triaxial method. Based on the experimental results, an equivalent circuit model of degraded assembly's outer conductor and inner conductor under the environment of electromagnetic interference is developed. The relation between electromagnetic interference (EMI) current response coupling on the inner conductor and impedance of inner conductor is obtained and verified by simulation results.
