A non-terminal points grounding method of shielded cable for electromagnetic pulse protection

A novel non-terminal points grounding method is proposed to improve shielding effectiveness of shielded cables for electromagnetic pulse protection. Compared with traditional method, grounding locations of proposed method are modified by current distribution on cable sheath, rather than two endpoints of cable. Shielding effect in terms of core currents are analyzed in detail. Factors including incident angle and cable length are also considered to verify effectiveness of the proposed method Simulation results show that there exists best grounding location. The coupled electromagnetic energy of shielded cable could reduce 92.7% compared to the traditional one's, on the best grounding location in case of 1m cable under irradation of High-altitude nuclear electromagnetic pulse (HEMP).
