Optimization of gas turbine power plant economic dispatch using Cuckoo Search Algorithm method

Thermal power plant is a generator that generates electrical energy derived from thermal energy. Thermal energy can be generated from combustion fuel in the form of gas or coal. The fuel consumption of thermal power plant affects the cost of production electrical energy, so it needs an optimum generator operation techniques. In this paper, Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA) is proposed as a method to optimize fuel consumption in Gas Turbine Power Plant on economic dispatch problem. Based on the comparison with actual data of generators' load from Steam Power Plant T ambak Lorok, Semarang, Indonesia on April 2017, the CSA method provides more efficient fuel consumption than the actual fuel consumption. Optimization using CSA method give saving as much as 1.319,48 MMBTU (about 1 %), which shows the effectiveness of the method.
