Anti-thermal aging ability of low density polyethylene enhanced by MgO nanoparticles

This paper reveals the anti-thermal aging ability enhanced by MgO nanoparticles for the low density polyethylene (LDPE) during long-term thermal aging. FTIR spectra exhibits no thermal-oxidative aging was observed in LDPE/MgO nanocomposites even with the aging time of 1344 hours compared with neat LDPE. The nanocomposites present the ability to ensure dielectric properties of matrix and also the ability to suppress space charge accumulation after long-term thermal aging, which may be contributed by the interface between nanoparticles and matrix.
