A normalized approach for analysis and design a flyback resonant converter for energy harvesting systems

Energy harvesting systems are a trend aiming to contribute with global energy needs. By taking advantage of virtually inexhaustible sources, harvesting technologies can scavenge milliwatts and supply low-power microcontrollers. Nevertheless, to achieve their potential, an efficient conversion system is necessary. In this juncture, resonant converters are suitable due to their unique capabilities, however, their designing can be a complex task. This paper presents a normalized analysis and design methodology for a flyback resonant converter for energy harvesting aiming to obtain gain curves and component stress curves for any operating point, regardless of real circuit parameters. Simulation and experimental are performed to validate the theoretical approach.
