Enterprise resource planning: Introductory overview

Thinking in terms of business processes that integrate the functional areas leads to improvements in communication, workflow, and success of company, each organization needs to share information between functions and functional area. For this reason ERP software comes to provide this capability by using a common database. ERP system allows integrating all information in company: financial accounting, human resource, supply chain management and customer information. There is several ERP software currently available, both licensed paid and open source but they don't share the same characteristics.
