Wide band circularly polarized antenna with anisotropic meta-material ground plane

This paper proposes elliptical ring shape anisotropic meta-surface for converting linearly polarized antenna into circularly polarized antenna. Meta-surface and antenna were designed on FR4 substrate of permittivity 4.4 and tangent loss 0.02. Thickness of substrate for meta-surface is 3.2 mm and thickness of antenna substrate is 1.6 mm. By using meta-surface, a 0.92 GHz circularly polarized band was achieved and improvement in gain from 1.5 dB to 2.5 dB throughout impedance bandwidth was also observed. Proposed antenna shows Left Hand Circular Polarization (LHCP) within band.
