The construction of Chinese-English Parallel translation corpus

Techniques and process of construction of large-scale Chinese-English and English-Chinese parallel translation corpus were discussed and explored utilising the combination of linguistics, translation and computer science theories. The construction process was analyzed from perspectives of overall design, design of sub-corpus and database construction. The design can be organized into: setting the objective, determining the scale of the translation task creating the sub-corpus for Chinese to English or vice versa and setting rules for selecting context related words as well as discussing the principles of database design, development and implementation for the repository corpus.
