Application of fiber Bragg grating in the welding process monitoring of 2A14 flange plate

2A14 aluminum alloy is widely used in the aerospace industry, but its welding performance is very poor. In this paper, the distributed optical fiber gratings were used for the welding process detection of the aerospace storage tank flange made of 2A14, and the fiber grating center wavelength change was measured by a high speed demodulator, then the comprehensive change curves of stress temperature field 5mm far away from the annular weld seam were achieved. The experimental analysis showed that the fiber grating signals can reflect the welding sequence and the different effects of welding on the circumferential, radial and inner and outer surfaces of the weld seam, and the fiber Bragg gratings can be used for the effective monitoring of 2A14 welding process to optimize the welding procedure.
