Design and development of a compatible and expansible physiological data acquisition system based on IEEE11073 standards

With the aging society, increasing personal health devices (PHDs) have been produced with different data transmission methods and packets. IEEE 11073 was drafted to tackle this difference. Conjunction with a number of transport technologies, 11073 protocol-suite were selected by Continua alliance to promote the standardization of personal health devices. In this paper, a data acquisition system based on android platform has been implemented to connect with different Continua-certified and non-Continua PHDs through Bluetooth. Dynamic link library has been used to build a data collect and transcoding system to ensure the scalability. A proxy was designed to compatible with non-Continua PHDs and packaged into an isolate APK to support hot deployment.
