RSN: A space-based backbone network architecture based on space-air-ground integrated network

The research of integration network based on space, air and ground is an in-depth study in the field of space information network. The space-based backbone network needs to interconnect with air-based and ground-based network to construct a heterogeneous network, which can promote the expansion of navigation and communication services. Thus, the design of space-based network is the core in the integration network. The paper creatively puts forward an approach named RSN that constructing a virtual random satellite network from satellite physical topology based on LEO. RSN mainly employs WDM (Optical Wavelength Multiplexing) technology to achieve direct connections between any satellites. Therefore, the constructed topology has high dynamic performance and good expansibility. Once there appears single-point or multi-points fault in the satellites, RSN can quickly change the route. So it has strong ability in self-healing. The simulation results show that, for more than one hundred low orbit satellites, RSN can successfully construct a random topology based on the 2-D torus network. Through the construction of efficient and flexible space backbone network based on LEO, we provide a new idea for the Space-Air-Ground Navigation System.
