60 GHz millimeter-wave propagation characteristics in indoor environment

The millimeter-wave propagation characteristics at 60 GHz in indoor environment are simulated and analyzed based on the method of shooting and bouncing ray tracing/image (SBR/IM). A good agreement is achieved between the measured results and simulated results, so the correctness of SBR/IM method has been validated. Some propagation parameters are obtained in the simulation at 60 GHz millimeter-wave band and 2.4 GHz decimeter wave band, such as the path loss and root mean square (RMS) delay spread etc. The simulation results have laid a theoretical foundation of indoor network optimization for millimeter-wave communication, thus it establishes the foundation for the development of 5G.
