Development of an E hard hat for the safety of construction workers

Construction industry in the Philippines have increased of about 12.5% to date, and it is forecasted to propagate in succeeding years, reinforce by the development plan of the government also by private sectors. In line with that, occupational safety and health standard amendment is strongly enforced. Approximately all of the establishments in construction had posted safety signage's or warnings (98.3%) and provided workers orientation on safety and health hazards at work (98.2%) as part of its preventive and control measures against work safety and health hazards in the workplace. [6] Though strict compliance with the standards were observed construction related injuries were still significant. There were a total 2,115 reported cases of occupational injuries in the construction industry in 2013. Majority of these cases of occupational injuries were cases without workdays lost (75.1% or 1,590) while the rest were reported as temporary incapacity cases (24.8% or 524) and fatal cases (0.05% or 1). [2] Due to the fact that accidents are surprisingly unexpected. Using such observation, the researchers came up with modification of the usual hard hat into specialized personal protective equipment (PPE) that has the capability of conveying the information to the database server upon the accident.
