Reluctance network modeling of a low speed doubly salient permanent magnet machine

In this paper, a semi-analytical modeling method is applied to a Doubly Salient Permanent Magnets machine. This machine is characterized by a rotor carrying a large number of teeth. It is suitable to applications requiring high torque and low speed. A Reluctance Network is used in order to model the machine with a good compromise between accuracy and simulation duration. Moreover, the antisymmetric boundary conditions allow reducing significantly the time of model evaluation. After presenting the Reluctance Network, a comparison is made with a Finite Element Modeling. Finally, a geometric maximization of the torque mass ratio of the machine is performed.
