Dual output PFC rectifier with simultaneous boost and buck output

The paper presents a dual output AC-DC converter as a suitable candidate in emerging DC distribution systems. In accordance with the need of vast range of DC loads and standard distribution levels, the proposed Dual Output PFC Rectifier has been designed to provide simultaneous boost and buck outputs. In addition, the design ensures that the rectifier operates at unity power factor while maintaining harmonic injection within limit. Therefore, a suitable digital control technique has been implemented for closed loop control, which maintains the input power factor at unity apart from regulating two DC outputs. A 500 W scaled down prototype has been developed to study the operation and control of the proposed topology. The control law has been developed in digital domain configuring an FPGA as the controller.
