Cost based resource allocation strategy for the cloud computing environment

Cloud computing is one of the latest technology in the field of IT industries as well as research. It offers on-demand computing resources to the user on the rent basis. In this technology pool of computing resources named CPU, RAM, bandwidth, etc., are shared by the number of users. Virtualization is the technology which makes possible to the sharing of physical resources. Cloud is a complete business model. Hence, generating the highest revenue with user satisfaction is the prime objective of the cloud provider. As the cloud is the utility model similar to the electricity bill, so the revenue of the provider mainly depends on the time and the size of the resources which is used by the user. Our approach is also based on this consideration, i.e., time and size of the resources used by the user. This paper proposes a cost based resource allocation approach that will minimize the execution time, total completion time, and increase the profit of the provider along with the user satisfaction by giving the priority according to the cost paid by the user to the service provider for the used resource. This approach migrates the virtual machine from one physical host (physical machine) to another in order to avoid the overloaded and under load situation of the host. This approach is implemented in the CloudSim simulator in order to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach.
