Transmission line congestion management in liberalized environment by modified artificial wolf group technique

In the liberalized energy market, transmission lines congestion is one of the primary technical problems which occurs due to congestion, hence violating different security and operating limits. This research paper introduces a new heuristic approach to solve congestion management problem. The modified artificial wolf group (MAWG) algorithm has been inspired from the methods of hunting habit by wolves. The proposed technique has been applied to identify the weakest bus for optimal placing DG and maximizing the social welfare function on IEEE-14, IEEE-30 and IEEE-57 bus system. The cost analysis has also been done on the basis of positioning of DG and its placement. Further the results have been compared with base case which shows that it is superior. Simulation/Programming is performed on MATLAB R2016a platform.
