Enhanced security scheme with mutual authentication for WiMAX system

A novel enhanced security scheme with “mutual authentication” has been proposed in this paper for “WiMAX” environment. This system integrates “Random Number Generator” (RNG), “Diffie-Hellman Public Key Distribution System” (DH-PKDS), “two dimensional stream cipher” and “Data Connection Core” (DCC) to solve some of the security drawbacks related to “WiMAX”. “RNG” generates random numbers which are used as inputs for “DH-PKDS” and provide “public keys” and “common secret keys”. The proposed scheme employs “timestamp” and “DCC” to protect the system from different attacks. “Two dimensional stream cipher” technique is also used for the encryption and decryption of the transmitted message to increase the security of the system. Moreover, the message “integrity” is ensured by using “HMAC”. Furthermore, the proposed system has been simulated and compared with the existing system “MAWDK” with respect to “key generation time” and time elapsed in different phases of the system.
