Performance analysis of a grid connected photovoltaic station in the region of Adrar

This work aims to analyze the performance of grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system installed in the Saharan area of south Algeria (Adrar) in four different days, each one from different season of the year 2015. The results showed that temperature and irradiance play important role in system performance; the performance ratio and the system efficiency depend heavily on the temperature and drop from 90%, 12.12% respectively in winter to 64%, 8.74% respectively in the summer. Although maximum reference yield was recorded in the summer day with 8.17 kWh/kWp/day, the final yield was 5.30 kWh/kWp/day close to the winter final yield of 5.14 kWh/kWp/day and lesser than maximum final yield which was in the spring day with 6.21 kWh/kWp/day. The minimum daily final yield was recorded in autumn; with 3.88 kWh/kWp/day, as a result of the sudden changes in irradiance due to the sandstorm.
