Proposal of relay type GPS using many mobile terminals

In recent years, GPS has been widely used as a positioning system using satellites. However, GPS receivers cannot position calculation their own positions when they can watch less than three Satellites directly. Therefore, in an environment where there are many obstacles such as urban area, there is a problem that it may be not possible to receive four or more GPS signals from GPS satellites. In this paper, instead of installing fixed pseudo satellite station like Pseudolite, by using mobile terminals having position obtained by position calculation among a large number of mobile terminals existing around the target GPS receiver. Computer simulation evaluates the distance error of the target GPS receiver by the proposed method and the fixing rate is improved compared with only GPS satellites.
