Observer design for nonlinear systems using linear approximations

In this paper we present the design of an observer for nonlinear systems. The nonlinear system is represented as a sequence of linear, time‐varying approximations and a standard observer design is applied to each linear system. The sequence of observers converges uniformly to give an observer for the nonlinear system. In this way, we can use classical linear techniques for the design of nonlinear observers.
