Failure Analysis of Composite Structures Based on Digital Image Correlation Method

In order to solve the problem of failure mechanism of fiber reinforced composite with notch, the surface displacement of composite material in tensile test was digitally processed by digital image correlation method. Hashin improved criterion was embedded into ABAQUS / Explicit by subroutine VUMAT. The model of the composite specimen with damage was established, after which the simulation of the tensile test was carried out. The failure process and mechanism of the damage specimen were analyzed by comparing test results and simulation results. The results show that there is a low stress zone at the center of the specimen during the process of tensile failure, and the stress concentration of the fiber overlap area is obvious. The model is accurate and reliable, which is suitable for the fiber winding Damage analysis of materials.
