A technology tale: integrating hand‐held CAS into a mathematics curriculum

This paper recounts the experiences of faculty members as they addressed some of the challenges presented in choosing and integrating a new technology, the TI‐89 hand‐held computer algebra system, into the core mathematics curriculum. Deciding which instrument to choose, preparing and supporting instructors to use the technology, instructing the students to use the technology, affecting the curriculum, affecting classroom assessment, and analysing the effects of the change are related in detail.
