The introduction of graphic calculators into assessment in mathematics at the International Baccalaureate Organization; opportunities and challenges

This paper considers the impact of the introduction of graphic calculators into assessment within the International Baccalaureate Diploma. The difficulties, which arose in the development of practice questions, are discussed, as well as how these difficulties were resolved in the questions that appeared on the examinations. The problems of different calculator syntax are also discussed and suggestions for other examining groups are provided.
