Compact visible Q-switching fiber lasers with transition-metal dichalcogenides

Compact visible pulsed fiber lasers possess various applications. However, fiber-compatible visible-wavelength saturable absorber (SA) is very scare. Recently, transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have attracted widespread attention due to their visible saturable absorption properties. Here, we report our recent advances in compact visible trivalent praseodymium (Pr³⁺)-doped ZBLAN fiber lasers and TMDs (WS₂, MoS₂ and MoSe2)-based red passive Q-switching fiber lasers. Our work suggests that TMDs are promising SAs for Q-switching operation in visible spectral region.
