The air attenuation of laser transmission in sand-dust weather

The dust concentration and the complex permittivity of wet sand are utilized to study the laser attenuation in sand-dust weather. The relevance of atmospheric visibility and atmospheric humidity to the air attenuation are analyzed. Afterwards, the influence of height to dust concentration and the lase attenuation under different wavelengths are discussed. The stimulation results show that the laser attenuation will decrease with the increasing of atmospheric visibility. Moreover, the increase of atmospheric humidity will result in the increase of laser attenuation. Additionally, the attenuation follows negative exponential distribution when increasing the transmission height and laser wavelength. Particularly, the attenuation gradually approaches to a wavelength related stable value when the transmission height increases to 2.5km.
